Alyssa Lang

Greetings fellow honors students! Welcome to the best community at GW!  My name is Alyssa Lang, and I am a senior, majoring in anthropology and minoring in French.  I am from Hudson, (and technically Streetsboro), Ohio.  I have been in the Honors Program my entire time at GW and have loved every minute of it!  I love travelling and learning about different cultures and languages.  At GW, I have studied French and Arabic, but I have also travelled to Nepal and Israel.  I have also travelled to many other countries in Europe, thanks to my experience of studying abroad for an academic year in France!  GW, especially the Honors Program, allowed me to expand my horizon and learn about philosophies, ideas, and religions that I would never have dreamed of exploring.  With the Honors Program, I also get to explore the marvelous city of Washington DC.  My favorite parts of Washington DC are the Franklin Roosevelt Memorial during cherry blossom season or the National Art Gallery (especially when Catherine is giving the tour).   My hobbies include music and fencing.  I play the flute, piano, and saxophone, and I am part of the GW University Band, GW Colonial Brass, and GW Flute Choir.  I also fence in the GW Fencing Club, a new hobby that I picked up while at GW.  Finally, I love the book series Harry Potter (and can probably beat anyone in Harry Potter Trivia), The Lord of the Rings, and Doctor Who.   I am so excited to be an Honors Peer Advisor this year, and be able to spread my passion for the Honors Program, learning, and new experiences, and help make the first year at GW as enjoyable as possible.
