My name is Kelsie, from Orlando, Florida. I’m a Freshman in the Columbian College Arts of Sciences, majoring in Political Science with a minor in History and maybe American Studies (to be decided at a later time).
Being a political junkie, there are a lot of interesting things to do in DC. But, my favorite part of DC is the area around Adams Morgan around Dupont Circle, especially down Columbia Road and Connecticut Ave. There are several great used book stores there, from which I have accumulated far more books than can comfortably fit on my shelf.
I love the UHP because it provides a collegial forum where ideas can be examined and explored freely. In Origins and Evolution of Modern Thought, I have been able to discuss the ideas of many different thinkers from Plato to Marx and dissect the implications of their arguments as they apply to our modern society.
In the UHP, we all have diverse and oddly specific interests. I like Cuban sandwiches, dogs, Colin Firth, root beer, nuclear history, C-Span, watching documentaries until 3 o’clock in the morning, roller coasters, G2 pens, House of Cards, and folk-punk music.
That’s pretty much everything that you need to know about me. I look forward to meeting you and getting to know about what you want to accomplish during your time at GW and the UHP!
