About Melanie:

I was born and raised in Binghamton, New York. I am a Senior majoring in Political Science, with a double minor in International Affairs and Chinese. I currently also work at the Confucius Institute on campus as a Student Ambassador. After graduating from GW, I hope to pursue my Masters Degree in Public Administration. In the near future, I would also like to visit China to practice my language skill and learn more about the culture. My favorite thing about D.C. is the city environment. I have always wanted to live in a city, and D.C. provides that without it being too overwhelming. I also love the amount of opportunities this city gives students to intern at a variety of places. Last summer I was able to intern on the Hill with a Congressman, which I plan to do this summer as well. I am so grateful to have been able to be a part of the Honors Program. It gave me a smaller community within such a large space which made me feel more included. It also gave me the chance to meet an amazing group of people and advisors who have definitely made my experience here at GW infinitely better.
