Hi all! I am Richie Beck and I am a freshman in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, majoring in Biomedical Engineering on the pre-med track. I am originally from Long Island, New York, so, naturally, I am an expert in bagels, pizza and beaches. I work as a waiter over the summer and frequent NYC practically every week.
At GW, I am involved in Engineer’s Council – the umbrella organization for all Engineering clubs – and a research study for Duchenne Disease, a rare form of muscular dystrophy, in Children’s National Medical Center, which is only a 15 minute Metro ride away from GW’s campus. The most important part of GW is the UHP because it was where I found my main friend group through it and made me get involved in the Honors and GW community as a whole.
Some things I love about DC is the easy access to diverse areas like Georgetown, Adams Morgan and Chinatown, and the beautiful walks to monuments such as FDR Memorial and the Library of Congress.
